KOMU 8 News:

KOMU was the station where I fell in love with journalism. After touring it once, I immediately contacted the station manager in an attempt to get my foot in the door. I was lucky enough to start by archiving newscasts for future use and reference. A month later I managed to get my first debut on the morning news.

I wear many hats at KOMU, you could say I perform almost every job possible. As a general assignment reporter I wrote, shot video and edited it for day-turn and long-form stories as a one-man band. On the field it was my goal to get news out quickly and gain viewer interest through social and back at the station to elevate stories with exclusive content on web. After stories were aired I would interact with viewers to promote discussion of news stories using social media platforms.

Another job I took on at KOMU was website editor. Editors curate and control content on the website to meet the needs and goals of both the station and it’s users by maintaining the editorial standards of the KOMU. While working the newsroom desk, I was responsible for working with photographers, videographers, and other content producers to boost out multimedia website as well as update and monitor all our other forms of social media.
